A warm flat roof is designed so that the insulation layer is placed above the main structural roof deck (e.g., plywood, OSB, concrete). This means the structural elements of the roof (joists, deck) are on the “warm” side of the insulation, keeping them at a temperature closer to that of the building’s interior.
